The word "Library" originated in Latin, from the word Libraria, meaning a place to store books. Over the years the meaning of the word remained the same, however the perspective of library gradually became to change over the years. Between the period of 2001 and 2019 there was a sharp decline in the number of libraries around the world, people realize that the traditional libraries were no longer inviting readers. The libraries have adapted to the needs of the modern era. They are no longer just a place to borrow books they've become a place for promoting learning and the space is designed such that the exchange of knowledge takes place freely. This evolution of libraries into learning spaces can be seen clearly in the New York public school library system. These libraries were recently redesigned by Michael Beirut, a world class graphic designer. During the redesign process he came up with the concept of OWL which can have several spell-out forms, one of them being ÒOne World LibraryÓ. In 2022, Suan Dusit University adopted the term ÒOne World LibraryÓ as its policy to improve the learning resources that are not supposed to be limited to the library only, but also to open to all spaces of the university as the ultimate learning resources for all learners. © 2023, Research and Development Institute Suan Dusit University.
